Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Mawlid al-Nabi or mawlidu n-nabiyyi or Eid-a-mawlidu n-nabiyyi are the same things. According to English meaning “Birth of the Prophet” means Mawlid al-Nabi. Many Muslims celebrate a day of Prophet Mohammad Sallallahu Slaihi Wasallam. 12th of the Rabiul Awwal is the date of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad Sallallahu Slaihi Wasallam. The day is very popular to many people but celebrating the birthday of Prophet Mohammad Sallallahu Slaihi Wasallam is not recommended by Hadith or Quran. So, many Muslims do not celebrate the day. It is called that the day was celebrated first in 1588 and since then in many Muslim countries celebrate it.
According to Islam, if anyone does anything which is not recommended by Islam for getting a reward is called Bidah. If anyone wisely does this, then he will go to Jahannam (Hell). This day is celebrated by many Sunni Muslims in many countries. In some countries, Mawlid al-Nabi is a holiday. For this day, many Muslims family cook special food at home and share such food with relatives.
Many Sunni Islamic scholars denied celebrating the day. However, in Islam, it is not recommended to celebrate anyone’s birthday. That is why, Mawlid al-Nabi is completely forbidden by scholars.
